Garrett is best known for his nuanced, character-driven scores in comedy-dramas that balance wit, mystery, and emotional depth. Whether composing quirky themes for detective tales like Elsbeth or shaping the offbeat tone of Only Murders in the Building, he brings a distinctive voice that enhances storytelling with subtlety and style.
A lifelong film and gaming enthusiast, Garrett recognized early on the visceral power of music in shaping story and character. Over time, this instinct evolved into a clear artistic philosophy: music should not just support a scene, but deepen the audience’s emotional and perceptual experience. As an accomplished jazz musician with perfect pitch, he brings an improvisational sensitivity and collaborative mindset to every project.
Garrett’s music has been recorded by world-class orchestras at iconic studios including AIR Studios and Lyndhurst Hall (London), Eastwood Scoring Stage (Los Angeles), Ocean Way Studios (Nashville), Bastyr Chapel (Seattle), and premier facilities in Beijing, Moscow, Budapest, and Bratislava. His scores have been mixed by industry legends such as Alan Meyerson (Wonder Woman, Inception), Jake Jackson (Spitfire Audio, Doctor Who), Nick Wollage (Sherlock), and John Kurlander (The Lord of the Rings, The Beatles).
He has also collaborated with composers such as Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Alex Wurman (Anchorman, Patriot), David Russo (Gotham, Pennyworth), Neal Acree (World of Warcraft), and Roc Chen (The Wandering Earth), contributing additional music and sound design to help realize directors’ creative visions.
